H.E. Mr. Tsogtbaatar Damdin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and H.E. Mr. Enkh-Amgalan Byambasuren, Minister of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia held a joint meeting with H.E. Mr. Cai Wenrui, Ambassador of the People of Republic of China to Mongolia on 1^th April 2020.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged information on the measures taken by the respective governments to limit the spread of the new coronavirus. The sides also touched upon the possibilities of jointly advancing the initiative to establish a regional mechanism to facilitate rapid cooperation between countries in the event of a pandemic such as Covid-19.

The sides agreed that the two sides need to work more actively to reduce the negative impact of the spread of the new virus on trade and economic cooperation between Mongolia and China.

The stressed the importance of active cooperation to mitigate the negative impact on the bilateral trade and economic relationship caused by the outbreak of Covid-19 and agreed to join efforts to achieve the common goal of increasing the bilateral trade turnover to $10 billion, including the normalization of coal trade which is an important trade commodity.
