The Ministry of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia, intends to use part of the proceeds of a loan from/grant administered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the Bank) for the above named project. Additional financing details are as follows:
EBRD Financing: USD 175,000,000
Government financing VAT USD 17,500,000
Contracts will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules.
Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from/ grant administered by the Bank and will be open to firms from any country.
The client intends to prequalify firms and joint ventures to tender for the above mentioned contract, which includes the following:
Construction of new road of IB Category between Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan Cities.
The scope of work includes:
Construction of new roadway of IB Category (2 lines, asphalt concrete pavement) with the total length of 202.43 km;
Construction of road structures including:
- construction of 9 new bridges (including 1 dual bridge): 6 small (10.64 - 18.7 m), 2 medium (26.08 m) and 1 large (101.08 m);
- construction of pipe culverts (180 units);
- construction of box culverts (78 units).
The contract is expected to start on 01/10/2019 and last about 36 months.
This opportunity is divided into 5 lots.
Tenderers may bid for a maximum of 5 lots.

The proceeds of the loan from/ grant administered by the Bank will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, or for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law or official regulation of the Client's country.
Other Information: The Government of Mongolia has also obtained a Loan from Asian Development Bank to finance the costs of the Regional Road Development and Maintenance Project (Project number 48186-005). The project will fund the rehabilitation and safety improvements of the existing 2-line road and tender was announced on 21 March 2019.
