Mongolia and IRU Agree to Strengthen International Road Transport Cooperation

Mongolia has agreed to deepen cooperation with the International Road Transport Union (IRU) to enhance international road transport, logistics, and digital transformation of the sector.

During a meeting at the International Transport Forum in Leipzig, Mongolian Minister of Road and Transport B. Delgersaikhan and IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto discussed expanding cooperation in transport facilitation, human resource development, and implementation of international standards.

Mongolia highlighted its progress in aligning with international transport frameworks, noting that it currently maintains legal road transport arrangements with 25 countries and has significantly expanded the use of the TIR system.

The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in training, digitalization, and implementation of the TIR system, including support for Mongolia’s transport training institutions to achieve IRU Academy accreditation.

Mongolia also emphasized its efforts to join key international transport conventions such as AETR, ADR, and ATP to further align its transport system with global standards.

Both parties agreed to continue working together to improve cross-border transport efficiency and advance the digital transformation of international logistics.
