Mongolia and Azerbaijan Sign Air Transport Agreement, Agree to Expand Connectivity

Mongolia and Azerbaijan have agreed to expand cooperation in transport and logistics and signed an air transport agreement during a meeting between their transport ministers in Leipzig.

Mongolian Minister of Road and Transport B. Delgersaikhan and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in aviation and road transport.

The agreement creates a legal basis for launching direct flights between Ulaanbaatar and Baku, a long-discussed initiative now moving into implementation. Mongolia currently maintains air transport agreements with over 50 countries, including more than 20 in Europe.

Both sides emphasized the importance of developing Asia–Europe transit corridors and increasing freight flows to Europe through improved use of central and northern routes and agreed to continue expanding cooperation in aviation, road transport, and transit logistics as part of broader regional connectivity efforts.
