Mongolia and Germany Discuss Expanding Transport Cooperation

Mongolian Minister of Road and Transport B. Delgersaikhan met with German Parliamentary State Secretary for Digital and Transport Christian Hirte during the International Transport Forum in Leipzig to discuss expanding cooperation in transport infrastructure and logistics.

The two sides exchanged views on railway and highway development, transit transport, and training engineering and technical personnel. Mongolia also expressed interest in opening direct flights to Berlin in addition to the existing Frankfurt route.

Minister Delgersaikhan highlighted Mongolia’s strategic role in connecting Asia and Europe through transit transport corridors and expressed interest in cooperating with German companies, including Deutsche Bahn, in the railway sector.

Minister also stressed the importance of creating the legal environment for mutual recognition of driver’s license between Mongolia and Germany and requested the German side to favorably consider the proposal.

Germany welcomed deeper cooperation in transport, including possible collaboration on air connectivity, and railway development projects.
