Bayarmagnai met on May 5, 2026, with representatives of the World Bank led by a Senior Transport Specialist.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed projects jointly implemented by the Ministry of Road and Transport of Mongolia and the World Bank and discussed opportunities for future cooperation and new project initiatives.

The parties first discussed the financing of the project to rehabilitate and expand Ulaanbaatar–Lun 101.7 kilometer road into a six-lane expressway. Representatives of the World Bank noted the possibility of investing in the project and requested detailed information regarding the preliminary study, feasibility study, engineering design and current condition of the road.

World Bank representatives also expressed interest in implementing additional projects and programs in cooperation with the Ministry of Road and Transport and welcomed further discussions on future collaboration.

State Secretary M. Bayarmagnai emphasized that the road and transport sector is one of the key driving forces behind Mongolia’s development. He expressed Mongolia’s interest in introducing international best practices and strengthening cooperation in the areas of technical assistance and advisory support.

During the meeting, the State Secretary also proposed implementing the project to expand the Ulaanbaatar–Mandalgovi road into a four-lane highway with investment support from the World Bank.

The parties subsequently discussed investment opportunities in the civil aviation sector. Representatives of the World Bank noted that several projects are being planned in cooperation with the Ministry.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to further expand cooperation and continue discussions on future opportunities and joint initiatives.
