Minister Delgersaikhan Borkhuu met with H.E. Mrs. Basak Genc Yuksel, Ambassador of Türkiye to Mongolia on April 30, 2026.

The two sides discussed opportunities to expand cooperation between Mongolia and Türkiye in the transport sector, particularly in the fields of civil aviation, railway, and road transport.

Minister B. Delgersaikhan highlighted that the friendly relations between Mongolia and Türkiye have steadily developed since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1969 and have now reached the level of a strategic partnership.

The Minister also noted that cooperation between the two countries in the road and transport sector has expanded productively in recent years. He emphasized that Türkiye has been an active partner in the fields of civil aviation, roads, railways, and road transport.

In particular, he noted that during the 2025 state visit of Mongolian President Mr. Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to Türkiye, important documents were signed to expand bilateral cooperation in the road transport sector.

Minister further introduced Mongolia’s “New Kharkhorum City” development project and proposed cooperation on the construction of a new international 4E-class airport within the framework of the project.

In the railway sector, the Minister noted that, within the framework of the MoU signed between the two countries, the feasibility study for the Ulaanbaatar–Kharkhorum railway project is currently being developed in cooperation with the Republic of Korea. The parties also explored the possibility of Türkiye participating in the railway project.

Ambassador Basak Genc Yuksel reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to actively cooperating in elevating bilateral relations and cooperation in the transport sector to a new level and in implementing mutually beneficial projects and programs.

The Ambassador also stated that the proposals put forward during the meeting would be communicated to the relevant authorities and followed up through practical cooperation.
