Minister B. Delgersaikhan Meets with Representatives of AerCap

Minister of Road and Transport Delgersaikhan Borkhuu met on April 22, 2026, with Aengus Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of AerCap, one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed global trends in the aviation industry, developments in the aircraft leasing market, new aviation technologies and manufacturing solutions, and opportunities to deepen cooperation in the Mongolian market.

Minister B. Delgersaikhan welcomed Mr. Kelly to Mongolia and highlighted that the ongoing cooperation between AerCap and MIAT Mongolian Airlines represents a strong example of mutual trust and long-term partnership.

The Minister noted that current geopolitical and economic conditions are creating both challenges and opportunities for the global aviation sector. He emphasized that fluctuations in fuel prices, supply chain disruptions, and aircraft production and delivery constraints continue to affect the sustainable growth of the industry. At the same time, he pointed out that the recovery of international tourism and increasing passenger traffic are serving as positive indicators for the sector.

He further stated that Mongolia is working toward becoming an air transport hub connecting Asia and Europe by leveraging its strategic geographical location. In this context, the Government of Mongolia is implementing policies aimed at supporting the development of the aviation sector and strengthening the capacity of air carriers.

The Minister also highlighted that, within the framework of Mongolia’s aviation liberalization policy, the country has concluded air transport agreements with 50 countries and currently entitled to operate flights to more than 200 cities worldwide.

AerCap, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, is a global leader in aircraft leasing and financing, cooperating with nearly 300 airlines across more than 80 countries. The company owns and manages more than one thousand aircraft and related aviation assets. Its fleet portfolio includes both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft manufactured by Airbus and Boeing, such as the A320 and B737 for short- and medium-haul operations, as well as the A330, A350, and B787 for long-haul routes.

Minister B. Delgersaikhan emphasized that, within the framework of the long-term lease agreement between MIAT Mongolian Airlines and AerCap, the operation of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft has significantly strengthened Mongolia’s long-haul flight capabilities, enabling flights to Europe and other distant destinations and creating opportunities to enter new markets.

Mr. Kelly expressed his pleasure meeting with Minister Delgersaikhan, noting that the company’s leasing services are typically implemented over a long-term period of 20 to 30 years. He emphasized that AerCap is committed to building stable and sustainable partnerships with its partners.

Mr. Kelly also noted that the supply of wide-body aircraft has become increasingly limited due to shortages in manufacturers’ raw material supply chains. In this regard, he emphasized that partner countries intending to acquire such aircraft are now required to place orders approximately 1.5 to 2 years in advance.

Within the framework of future cooperation, AerCap expressed its readiness to continue long-term cooperation with Mongolia and MIAT Mongolian Airlines by sharing its extensive experience in aircraft leasing, maintenance, and aviation services.
