Minister Delgersaikhan Borkhuu held a meeting with the World Bank and IFC Resident Representatives

On 24 February 2026, Minister of Road and Transport Mr. Delgersaikhan Borkhuu held a meeting with Mr. Taehyun Lee, Resident Representative of the World Bank, and Mr. Mathieu David Le Blanc, Resident Representative of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

The parties exchanged information on the implementation progress of the ongoing Mongolia Transport Connectivity and Logistics Improvement Project funded by the World Bank. The minister further inquired about the possibilities of World Bank’s engagement under the captioned project, in allocating funding for the construction of the first-phase core railway infrastructure of the planned dangerous goods terminal at the junction of the Bagakhangai–Khushig Valley railway line, which is being built by the MTZ company.  The World Bank team suggested that the proposed project falls in line with the ongoing project’s overall goal of improving the logistics in Mongolia; the requested new project funding, if considered, may require restructuring the whole project, entailing significant paperwork and major delays in the project's course.

Mr. Taehyun Lee noted that the matter would be promptly reported to World Bank management and, to the extent possible, direct a portion of the approved financing toward the railway terminal.

Mr. Mathieu David Le Blanc updated the minister on the developments of its works with the MTZ company to provide financing for the Bagakhangai–Khushig Valley railway line construction projects.

The sides agreed to continue the discussions between experts and project team specialists.
