Minister Delgersaikhan Borkhuu met with H.E. Mr. Aibek Artykbaev, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Mongolia and held a discussion on the matters of bilateral cooperation in the transport sector.
Sides highlighted the active relations and cooperation between the two countries, including recent state visits. Both sides expressed interest in further developing cooperation across all sectors, including the economy, tourism, trade, and investment. In particular, the sides discussed opportunities for collaboration in road transport, air transport and railway transport fields.
Ambassador Aibek Artykbaev highlighted key sectors in the Kyrgyzstan economy, including agriculture, food production, road transport and natural resources. He informed on the opportunities to expand cooperation between the two countries in road and air transport. For instance, establishing potential flight routes passing through Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. In the road transport sector, the Ambassador asked the Mongolian side to support the request of the Kyrgyz Republic to join the Intergovernmental Agreement on International Road Transport along the Asian Highway Network which was signed in 2016 by Mongolia, Russia and China.
The Minister expressed the Mongolian side’s support for the Kyrgyz Republic to join the agreement and informed about the upcoming tri-partite meeting on the implementation of the agreement which is scheduled to take place in Ulaanbaatar in April 2025 and invited the Kyrgyz side to attend the meeting.
