
Minister Mr. Khaltar Luvsan attended the 84th Session of the UNECE Inland Transport Committee organized for the occasion of its 75th anniversary on 22 February 2022 and presented his speech during the Ministerial session held under the theme of Connectivity.
In his speech, he expressed Mongolia’s desire to transfer the freight transportation between Asia and Europe through the territory of Mongolia and to join the regional and international logistics network. He also mentioned the importance of increasing the transport connectivity and improving the efficient activities in logistics to export Mongolia's goods to the world market.
Minister Khaltar further mentioned that the Government of Mongolia recognizes the importance of developing multilateral transport networks and improving trade and transport links in order to participate in regional and international trade and has adopted medium and long-term development policy documents to accelerate infrastructure developments. Afterwards, he introduced on the progress of some of the notable ongoing infrastructure projects in the transport sector.
Further, he noted that the transport and logistics sector of the landlocked countries has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic and the development of dry ports could be one of the potential solutions to tackle the challenges caused by such crisis and he highlighted the joint efforts of the countries will be significantly important to overcome this crisis.
Minister emphasized the needs of improving the coordination of border ports in order to facilitate trade and transportation, as well as to implement simplified inspections, and to avoid as many unnecessary additional requirements as possible and he called for other countries to pay attention and cooperate on expediting the process of concluding the transport agreements, which provides a legal basis for trade and transportation in order to ensure the smooth and efficient border-crossing transportation.

Lastly, he reaffirmed Mongolia’s commitment to seek new international and regional experiences and solutions to improve trade and transport links, and to learn from and contribute to the knowledge, skills, and experience gained from national and international projects and initiatives and wished UNECE a great success on the meeting.
