The Ministry of Road and Transport development pledged the support of the initiative of the President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh to plant one billion trees, which was voiced by the president at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
On October 9, 2021 a total of 11 organizations under the Ministry of Road and Transport Development, together with Mongolian Road Association, the Youth Council of the Road and Transport Sector, and professional associations jointly planted 1686 trees along the highway to New Ulaanbaatar International Airport.
At the opening of the tree-planting event Minister L.Khaltar said, “Thank you to all the employees of road and transport sector who are joining us today at this noble event. Caring for the trees is more important than planting them. Therefore, we will continue to take care of them. We aim to create a green strip along the highway. I would like to thank all of the organizations for offering their readiness to engage in this tree-planting movement initiated by the president of Mongolia.
For example, the National Center for Road Transport has pledged to plant trees in the number of new cars imported Mongolia, the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia and MIAT Mongolian Airlines are in the number of air passengers a year and “UBTZ”JSC pledged to totally refrain from using wooden sleepers by 2030 and plant trees along key sections along the railway line. I believe that by 2030, Mongolia will succeed in planting one billion trees”. The number of companies and organizations from road and transport sector joining the “Billion Trees” movement is on the rise, and we are planning to plant at least 700-800 trees a year, around 7-8 million trees by 2030.
