Mr. L.Khaltar, Minister of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia met with Ms. Tamura Eriko, Director of JICA Mongolia Office on September 9, 2021.
During the meeting, JICA presented the progress of Data Collection Survey on Transport Infrastructure Development in Ulaanbaatar city and Survey on New Zuunmod City Development Plan based on the New Ulaanbaatar International Airport.
The two sides exchanged views on the possible future projects based on the results of these surveys. Under the implementation of Data Collection Survey on Transport Infrastructure Development in Ulaanbaatar city, JICA proposed a project long list, and the Minister expressed his willingness to cooperate in the development of Highway Improvement Project, Railway Traffic Light Renovation Project, Traffic Control System Improvement Project and Public Transport System Development Project.
Within the framework of Survey on New Zuunmod Development Plan based on the New Ulaanbaatar International Airport, the two sides agreed to focus on the Bogdkhan Railway Bypass, AH-3 highway, light rail line connecting Ulaanbaatar city and the new airport, multimodal transport and logistics center, establishment of new settlement area and free economic zone, and agreed to work in line with the integrated planning of the city.
Minister L.Khaltar also mentioned the country’s interest to export Mongolian mineral products to Japan through Russia and China, and informed that the Ministry is under discussion with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Embassy of Mongolia in Japan about to starting the pilot transportation. He further requested the JICA’s support in promotion of business partnership opportunities among Japanese companies in this matter.
