Minister L.Khaltar visited the construction sites and reviewed progress of Tavan Tolgoi-Gashuunsukhait and Tavan Tolgoi-Zuunbayan railway projects last week.
The Tavantolgoi-Gashuunsukhait 240km railway stretches through Tsogttsetsii, Bayan-Ovoo, Khanbogd soums of Umnogovi province and is a first-class UIC 60 steel railway, which is going to be the first seamless railway line built in Mongolia.
The railway will have 25 ton axle load, 16 bridges, 126 culverts, 8 animal passages, 2 stations and 5 crossings and the construction work employs 460 engineers and technicians, 1500 technical workers and 754 pieces of equipment. The client of the railway project is Tavan Tolgoi Railway LLC and the EPC contractor is Bodi International LLC with 35 local companies engaged as sub-contractors.
The Tavantolgoi-Zuunbayan 416.1 km railway spans over Tsogttsetsii and Manlai soums of Umnogovi provinces and Mandakh, Sainshand soums of Dornogovi province and has 1 station, 6 crossings along the line. The project is large infrastructural project of a national scale, ordered by Mongolian Railway State-owned company, being constructed by the joint participation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces acting as contractor of the lower infrastructure and the Ulaanbaatar Railway JVC and 104 local companies working as contractor of upper infractructure.
Minister L.Khaltar visited the construction site to personally inspect and review the works to ensure whether the railway round and rectangular culverts, embankment slope reinforcement, ballast fortification, livestock passages, road line markings are builds according to the relevant standards and to see the construction progress of the ancillary infrastructure, cables, power poles, stations and crossings, etc.
He also exchanged views on reasons for the delays, additional works and solutions to protect the railway from sand movement with the contractors and gave directions and instructions for construction work.
